Product Overview

The Makita XBU03Z 18V LXT Cordless Leaf Blower clears leaves, grass clippings, and yard debris from lawns, driveways, and patios with zero emissions and lower noise than gas-powered blowers. It runs on the same 18-Volt LXT battery platform that powers the expanding Makita LXT system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about this product.

Does the Makita XBU03Z come with a battery and charger?

No. The Makita XBU03Z is a tool-only model. You need a compatible 18V LXT battery and charger, which are sold separately.

Which batteries work with the Makita XBU03Z?

The XBU03Z is powered by Makita 18V LXT slide-style lithium-ion batteries, the same battery platform used across the LXT cordless tool system. Use only genuine Makita batteries and chargers.

How much air power does the Makita XBU03Z produce?

The Makita XBU03Z delivers up to 459 CFM of air volume and up to 116 MPH of air velocity, generated by its brushless motor.

How much does the Makita XBU03Z weigh?

Makita rates the XBU03Z at 6.5 lb. with battery. The tool measures 32-1/2 in. long.

How does the cruise control lever work?

The cruise control lever provides 0-100% variable speed control for managing power and run time. A speed lock is also available for convenient continuous operation.

How loud is the Makita XBU03Z?

Makita rates the XBU03Z at a sound pressure of 60 dB(A), measured per the ANSI B 175.2 standard. Makita also notes that the cordless design runs with lower noise than gas-powered tools.

Is the Makita XBU03Z a good alternative to a gas leaf blower?

The XBU03Z is a battery-powered alternative that produces zero emissions and avoids fuel mixing and gas-engine maintenance. Its power and run time depend on the battery you pair with it.

What does Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) do on the XBU03Z?

XPT is a protective seal inside the tool, engineered to provide increased dust and water resistance and to channel water and dust away from key internal components. Consult the owner's manual before using the tool in wet conditions.

Does the brushless motor improve run time?

Makita states that its electronically controlled brushless motor optimizes battery energy use for up to 50% longer run time per charge than similar non-brushless tools. The brushless design also runs cooler, which Makita notes supports longer tool life.

Can I use Makita 18V LXT batteries from other tools with the XBU03Z?

Yes. The XBU03Z uses the 18V LXT battery platform, so compatible LXT batteries from the broader LXT system can be used with it.
